Cold water, nature and connection. A free community for men.
Cold water is where it begins. Community is why we stay.
Men, nature, and doing something good for your head. Dips, walks, fires. No pressure, just a solid group of men showing up for themselves and each other.
Our Community
across the UK
always and forever
Cold water is where
it begins. Community
is why we stay.
Some come for a reset.
Some come because they need it.
Most stay for the community.
Dips, walks, saunas, time round the fire. Some talk things through, some have a laugh, some just take a quiet moment.

More Than a Cold Dip
Every session combines cold water immersion with movement, breathwork and genuine human connection.
Weekly cold water immersion in natural locations - lakes, rivers, seas and reservoirs. Cold water exposure has well-documented benefits for mood, focus and resilience.
We walk, breathe and spend time outdoors together. Being in nature alongside other men has a grounding, restorative quality that's hard to put into words.
Not a group chat. Not a club. A community of men who show up week after week, for themselves and for each other. No judgment. No hierarchy. Just presence.
Find Your Nearest Dip
Sessions run every week across England and Scotland. No experience needed. All men welcome.

Men Who Showed Up
Ice Breakers creates the opportunity to spend time with other men, many of whom are sharing the same challenges, to just be, let off steam and reset. So different from going to the pub and drinking too much. It has had a profound impact on me, my family and those around me.
When I was really, really down, IceBreakers lifted me up. Been dipping a year and a half now and not giving up this lovely community of men from all walks of life and shapes and sizes and orientations.
I was at the lowest point of my life, not knowing what to do or where to turn. As well as the natural benefits of cold water dipping, just having positive interactions with such a diverse range of people has made such a big difference. Being part of IceBreakers has been life changing.
It was immediately apparent this was a welcoming place to experience cold water therapy alongside like-minded people. But once beyond that initial shock, IceBreakers becomes an open and safe place to share and be heard amongst other men. I'd strongly recommend it without hesitation.
Ice Breakers is an amazing organisation. Supporting, empathetic, inspiring. Over the last few months the bonding with other men has, quite literally, saved my life. The world needs more Ice Breakers!
I struggled to find a place I can share my experience and speak about it and not feel ashamed and judged. IceBreakers has given me a real mental and physical boost. It's a great resource and I have recommended it to people I feel would benefit from its community.

Quick FAQs
Do I need any experience?+
None at all. Most men who come have never done cold water dipping before. You go at your own pace and nobody is pressured to stay in longer than they want.
Is it really free?+
Yes. Completely free. No membership, no drop-in fee, no hidden costs. IceBreakers sessions will always be free to attend - that's a core part of what we are.
Is it only for men?+
Yes - our regular chapters are for men. This is intentional. Research consistently shows men open up more easily in men-only spaces. We create a safe, non-judgemental environment where that can happen.
What do I need to bring?+
Swim shorts, a towel, warm clothes to change into. A dryrobe® and a flask of something hot are highly recommended but not essential.
Is cold water dipping safe?+
When done responsibly, yes. Our chapter leads are trained in cold water safety. We dip together so nobody is alone in the water. We assess local conditions before every dip to help keep the experience safe for everyone.
How quickly will I feel the benefits?+
Most people feel a shift immediately - physically, mentally, emotionally. Expect some shock at first, followed by what many call an 'afterglow'. It gets easier over time.
I hate cold water - will I enjoy this?+
That's completely normal! You don't have to love the cold to love how it makes you feel afterwards. Give it a go - you might surprise yourself.
